The Support and Export Agri-products Association in Savannakhet Province for rice quality chain
Description
This smallholders famers’ association is shaping an interesting rice value chain. The association brings together farmers’ groups, smallholder millers and traders to better organize a rice value chain. They are launching a quality process focusing on sticky rice and fragrant rice, so far a very professional marketed packaging. The association has a first experience with some international traders (Chinese, Viet-Nam…) and with the largest miller company in Laos (IDP). This association received many prices for their innovating practices. However, this association needs to progress on managing of quality (they ask for a better inner quality monitoring process) and on marketing (setting suitable partnerships with traders and millers). All the stakeholders, from farmers, smallholder millers and traders, and IDP, are interested by progressing with our help towards a better integrated internal quality assurance, monitoring systems and marketing.
