BEANS niche

Title

Network of producers of a new variety of beans

Description

In general, the beans yields are low (the average is 11qq of beans per apple, when the potential is 70-80 qq per apple); only 20% of producers achieve good performance and 80% have low average yields. The lack post-harvest management (moisture management, diversification by grain varieties and characteristics, etc.) also affects the final quality of the grain. However, there are more productive beans varieties and more resistant to pests, small producers often cannot buy good quality seed for new planting, due to lack of resources.

Despite the fact that there are strong cooperatives and federations of beans producers, production activity is predominantly carried out individually, from the acquisition of inputs, production, to marketing. In this way many times the producer at the selling moment falls into the hands of the intermediaries and he does not get a fair price. It is necessary to strengthen the business capacities of the producer at individual and organizational level.

Aim

Becoming a network of producers that leads the production and distribution of seeds and beans grain resistant to climatic threats.
